Cannot end Process or remove Notification Icons in Windows 7 eh?

If you can't end a process in Win7, try these tips:

You may have to open the Windows Task Manager window and under VIEW, click 'Select Columns', then put a checkmark in the 'PID (Process Identifier)' box.

1. From the command prompt window (Start/Run/cmd.exe) see if taskkill /PID (PID #).

2. If that doesn't work, go to Services or (Start/Run/services.msc) and turn off Windows Media Network Sharing Service

Remove to really get rid of notification icons?

Problem:  I had installed and uninstalled Driver Robot, and it still shows in the notification list.  Even tells me the icon is not currently active.

Solution: To remove it, go to the registry editor:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Classes\Local Settings\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\TrayNotify

Delete "PasteIconsSteam" and "IconStreams" keys.

Close the registry editor and then go into task manager and kill the "Explorer.exe" process.

Restart your computer and hopefully the uninstalled programs should disappear from your notification area!

Hope this helps.  Tom aka Iomegaman  (not Tom of Tomax7)
